Nightforce CFS 6-36×50 F1 – MOA-XTs

Nightforce CFS 6-36×50 F1 with the MOA-XTs reticle is a precision-oriented spotting scope built for shooters and spotters who need detailed observation, accurate measurements, and dependable communication at extended distances. With its 6-36x magnification range and first focal plane reticle, this configuration gives users the flexibility to scan an area at lower power and then move toward 36x when greater detail is required. The result is a versatile field optic that fits naturally into precision rifle shooting, competition, hunting, and long-range observation.

What makes the MOA-XTs version particularly interesting is the reticle itself. Designed specifically for spotting scope applications, the MOA-XTs uses a variable-power first focal plane design that remains useful across the entire magnification range. At lower magnification, the prominent reference points on either side of the reticle provide an easy way to communicate coarse MOA corrections between shooter and spotter. As magnification increases, the offset grid provides finer subtensions while helping keep the central viewing area open for observing bullet trace. A section incorporating 0.25 MOA subtensions also adds useful precision when estimating ranges and making detailed corrections.

The 6-36x magnification range gives the CFS considerable flexibility in real-world use. At 6x, the scope offers a field of view of approximately 37.2 feet at 100 yards, making it easier to locate targets and scan surrounding terrain. At 36x, the field of view narrows to around 7.2 feet, but the increased magnification makes it possible to study distant targets and impacts in considerably greater detail. The 50mm objective complements this broad magnification range while helping keep the overall design relatively compact.

Physical design is another strength of the CFS platform. The straight configuration measures approximately 14.1 inches and weighs 33.7 ounces, while the integrated dovetail base is compatible with RRS and Arca-Swiss mounting systems. Rubber knurling, centrally positioned controls, and a 120-degree rapid focus ring are intended to make adjustments quick without requiring excessive movement around the scope. These details are particularly useful when the optic is being used from a tripod during extended shooting sessions.

Shooters looking at the wider selection of Nightforce Spotting Scopes can consider the CFS when a reticle-equipped spotting solution is more useful than a conventional observation scope. The broader range of Nightforce Optics also reflects the company’s focus on precision applications. Built by Nightforce, the CFS 6-36×50 F1 MOA-XTs combines high magnification, a purpose-built MOA reticle, compact field-ready construction, and configurable functionality into a spotting scope designed for serious long-range observation.
